Tikoy Recipe, Tikoy or Nian gao is snown as Chinese New Year pudding, the Nian gao is made up of glutinous rice flour, wheat starch, salt, water, and sugar.
The colour of the sugar used determines the colour of the pudding (white or brown). Tikoy or Nian Gao is considered as a centerpiece during Chinese New Year in the Philippines.
1 16oz mochiko (sweet rice flour)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 brick brown sugar
2 1/2 cup water
2 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1. Dissolve brick sugar in water.
2. Add in the flour,vanilla extract,and salt. Mix well.
3. Pour into a round pan and steam for about 2-2 1/2 hours.
4. Sprinkle top with sesame seeds. Slice and fry in 1 tbsp butter until top is brown and crunchy. Enjoy with a cup of coffee.
