How to Cook Misua with Sardines:
One quick and easy soup recipe is Misua with Sardines. This recipe converts canned Sardines (or Mackerel) in tomato sauce into a simple but flavorful soup dish.
Misua are thin flour noodles that are usually added to soups.
In this recipe, you can use any brand of sardines as long as it is in a tomato based sauce. One small cylindrical can of sardines should be enough for the entire process. If you like to add vegetables to this recipe, please feel free to do so. Upo (bottle gourd), chayote, and patola (loofa) are some of the vegetables that I can suggest.
50 grams misua (chinese somen noodles)
1 can sardines in tomato sauce
1 small onion, chopped
1 tbsp. scallions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-2 tbsp. fish sauce
1 1/2 cup cup water
salt and pepper to taste
1. Heat cooking oil in a wok. Saute onion and garlic until fragrant and soft.
2. Add in sardines and saute for at least 2 minutes. Season with fish sauce and pepper.
3. Pour in water and bring to a boil. After a boil, put in misua. Soak and allow to cook over medium heat for at least 3 minutes or until soft.
4. Serve on a bowl and sprinkle with chopped scallions.
